Log in Add Server

You're looking for a stronghold. You've crafted 30 ender pearls, you throw them one by one, and after 20 minutes of walking you realize the stronghold is 3,000 blocks the other way. Or you've been looking for a mushroom biome for two hours with no luck. MC Seed View solves these problems in seconds: you enter your seed, and the tool shows the exact position of every structure, every biome, every dungeon in your world. No mod, no installation, everything happens in the browser. Try it right below.

Map generated with the online tool MC Seed View

Key takeaways

  • MC Seed View is a free web tool that generates an interactive map of your Minecraft world from the seed. No account required.
  • Compatible with Java (1.0 to 26.3) and Bedrock, updated for Minecraft 26.3 Wilderness Bound.
  • It locates more than 25 types of structures (villages, strongholds, dungeons, ancient cities, trial chambers, abandoned camps, etc.) with exact coordinates and a copyable /tp command.
  • All data is computed locally in your browser via WebAssembly. Your seed is never sent to a server.

How to get your world's seed

MC Seed View needs the seed (the generation key) to compute your world's map. Three ways to get it:

  • In game: type /seed in chat. The seed is displayed immediately. On a server, this command requires operator rights.
  • From the save: click the "Load" button (folder icon) and drop your level.dat file (located in your world folder). The tool automatically extracts the seed, the Minecraft version and the spawn point.
  • Random seed: click "Random" (or press R) to generate a random seed and explore worlds at random.

Seeds can be numbers (positive or negative) or words. If you enter a word like "WardenValley", the tool converts it to a number the same way Minecraft does.

The interface

The navigation bar (at the top)

  • Seed: the field where you enter your world's seed, then click "Go" to start the calculation.
  • Version: the version selector. Java Edition (1.0 to 26.3) and Bedrock Edition, with all the versions in between.
  • Dimension: Overworld, The Nether or The End. Each dimension has its own structures and biomes.
  • Load: loads the seed from your level.dat file (automatic detection of the version and the spawn).
  • Random: generates a random seed.
  • Share: generates a permanent link to your map with the seed, coordinates and zoom encoded in the URL.
  • Favorites (heart): saves the seed to your local favorites so you can find it later.

The Features panel (structures)

A collapsible panel lists every element the map can display. Each type can be toggled individually. The supported structures:

Structure What it locates
Village NPC villages (all biome types)
Stronghold Strongholds (End portal, 128 in total)
Ancient City Ancient cities in the deep dark
Trial Chamber Trial chambers (1.21+)
Abandoned Camp Abandoned camps (26.3+)
Monument Underwater monuments (guardians)
Mansion Woodland mansions
Outpost Pillager outposts
Nether Fortress Nether fortresses
Bastion Bastion remnants (Nether)
End City End cities (elytra loot)
Dungeon / Spawner Dungeons with spawners (zombie, skeleton, spider)
Slime Chunk Chunks where slimes spawn (below Y=40)
Desert / Jungle Temple Desert and jungle temples
Witch Hut Witch huts
Mineshaft Abandoned mineshafts
Ruined Portal Ruined portals (Overworld and Nether)
Shipwreck / Ocean Ruins Shipwrecks and underwater ruins
Treasure Buried treasure
Igloo Igloos (some with a secret basement)
Trail Ruins Trail ruins
Spawn Point Player spawn point

Click any icon on the map to see the exact coordinates and a ready-to-paste /tp command for the Minecraft chat. It's the most practical detail: no need to write down coordinates manually.

The options below the map

  • Highlight Biomes: highlights a specific biome so you can spot it visually on the map.
  • Biome Height: displays biomes at different altitudes (Surface, Y:64, Y:0, Y:-64). Underground biomes aren't the same as surface biomes since 1.18.
  • X / Z + Go!: navigate directly to precise coordinates.
  • Terrain: overlays the actual terrain on the biome map. Fixes visual offsets on coastlines.
  • Grid Lines: displays the chunk grid.
  • Measure: measures the distance between two points on the map.
  • List: displays the list of all the structures found as a table with coordinates.
  • Save (camera): exports the current view as a high-resolution PNG image.

Specialized tools

In addition to the main map, MC Seed View offers more than 30 specialized tools for locating specific things:

  • Slime Chunk Finder: locates the chunks where slimes spawn so you can build a slime farm.
  • Spawner Finder: finds dungeons with spawners for XP farms.
  • Quad Witch Hut Finder: looks for four witch huts sharing a single AFK spot (a rare and sought-after setup).
  • Quad Monument Finder: same principle with underwater monuments.
  • Speedrun Seed Finder: finds seeds optimized for speedrunning (stronghold close to spawn, accessible Nether fortress).
  • All Biomes Finder: identifies seeds that contain all biomes near spawn.
  • Nether Portal Calculator: calculates the matching coordinates between the Overworld and the Nether so you can align your portals.
  • Seed Finder: searches for seeds matching custom criteria (nearby biomes, specific structures, distance from spawn).

Advanced features

Seed Score

Each seed is automatically evaluated and graded from S (exceptional) to F (poor) based on the diversity of biomes around spawn, the number of nearby structures, and the quality of the spawn point. An S-graded seed has a village at spawn, varied biomes nearby, and major structures that are quickly accessible. Handy for comparing several seeds before getting started.

Seed comparison

The "Compare" tool lets you display two seeds side by side and overlay them with a slider to see the differences in biomes and structures. Useful if you're torn between two seeds for a new world or a server.

Markers and routes

Right-click (or long-press on mobile) places a marker on the map. The "Route" tool lets you create a route between several points and optimize the order of the stops. Handy for planning an exploration session (spawn → village → stronghold → monument) and estimating distances.

Progress tracking

Mark structures as visited by checking the box in the info bubble. The icon becomes semi-transparent. Export and import your progress data to transfer it between devices. Everything is stored locally in your browser.

Controls

  • Mouse: drag to move, wheel to zoom, left-click an icon for details, right-click to place a marker, double-click to switch to expanded view.
  • Keyboard: arrow keys to move, R for a random seed, Esc to close popups.
  • Touch: drag to move, pinch to zoom, long-press to place a marker, double tap for expanded view.
  • PWA: install MC Seed View as an app from your browser's "Add to Home Screen" menu. The tool then works offline.

Java vs Bedrock

The same seed does not generate the same world on Java and Bedrock. The generation algorithms differ between the two editions. Always check that you've selected the right edition in the version selector, otherwise all the coordinates will be wrong.

If your world was created on an older version and you've updated since, select the version the world was created in for the chunks already explored. New chunks generated after the update use the new version's algorithm.

Accuracy and limitations

MC Seed View uses the open source cubiomes library, which reproduces Minecraft's generation algorithms. Structure positions and biome boundaries are verified against the official Mojang servers (1,482 positions tested, accuracy report published). A few limitations to be aware of:

  • Dungeons and spawners: the least reliable, because their generation depends on the surrounding terrain.
  • Decorations (trees, ores, grass): not predicted. They depend on per-chunk generation at load time.
  • Coastlines: the map displays biomes, not the exact terrain. Enable "Terrain" to correct this visually.
  • Mods and datapacks: not taken into account. Results are only reliable for vanilla generation.
  • Bedrock: structure support is complete, biome accuracy keeps improving.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is MC Seed View free?

Yes, completely free. All calculations happen in your browser via WebAssembly. No paid version, no locked features, no account to create.

Is my seed shared with a server?

No. MC Seed View computes everything locally in your browser thanks to the cubiomes library compiled to WebAssembly. Your seed is never sent to an external server. You can verify it: the tool works even offline once the page has loaded.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. The interface is designed for mobile (drag, pinch, long-press). You can also install MC Seed View as an app from your browser's "Add to Home Screen" menu for quicker access and offline use.

Why doesn't the map match my world?

Three common causes: the wrong edition selected (Java instead of Bedrock), the wrong version (select the version the world was created in, not your current version), or mods/datapacks that change generation. Also check that there's no extra space in the seed field.

How do I find a stronghold?

Enable the "Stronghold" layer in Features, then zoom out. Minecraft Java (1.9+) generates 128 strongholds spread across eight concentric rings around the 0,0 point. Click a stronghold icon for the exact coordinates and the /tp command. The End portal is in a room inside the stronghold.

Is using a seed map cheating?

It depends on the context. Solo or with friends, nobody will judge you. In speedrunning, seed maps are used by most runners. On a competitive server where the seed is supposed to stay secret, it's an unfair advantage. The answer depends on your community's rules.

Are my favorites and progress saved?

Favorites, history, markers and visited structures are stored locally in your browser. Use the "Export" and "Import" buttons to transfer your data between devices or to back it up before clearing your cache.
